Do I Need To Be Able To Dance ?
Please rest assured you don’t need any dance experience or ability; this is a dance-exercise class, not a dance class. You don't need a partner; everyone takes part as an individual.
Who is the Class Aimed At ?
Anyone over the age of 16 can take part, and you can join a class at any time, they’re suitable for everyone from complete beginner through to expert. Whether you're an avid exerciser who would like to spice up your current fitness routine or you're re-joining the fitness scene after a break, or you just enjoy music and like to dance, Zumba Fitness® is for you! There isn’t any pressure to fit a particular mould; just be yourself, have fun, lose yourself in the music and find yourself IN SHAPE!
What Should I Wear ?
We suggest you wear lightweight, exercise clothing. Many people wear yoga pants or cardio workout clothes that flow easily with movement. Whatever you choose, be sure you're comfortable.
You must wear footwear (no bare feet or socks). Not shoes (heels, sandals) but cross trainers or dance shoes with a smooth under sole; however, running shoes or cross trainers should be okay, but trainers with a lot of tread may prevent you from turning / pivoting with ease.
Do I Need To Bring Anything ?
Please bring along a drink, it can be thirsty work (depending, of course, on how vigorously you throw yourself into it!). Some people also bring along a towel - you may get hot and 'perspire'!
I Haven’t Exercised In A While, Will I Be Able To Keep Up ?
There is no pressure on anyone to push themselves; always go at your own pace. People in the class will have different fitness and health backgrounds - the class is structured so that everyone can benefit.
What If I Can’t Follow The Steps ?
Don't worry if you can't follow all the steps straight away, you'll soon pick them up. Just follow the Instructor, have fun and keep moving; as long as you're moving you're working! The great thing about Zumba® Fitness is that there's no pressure; just dance a little, laugh a little and HAVE FUN, a lot!
Do I Need To Complete Any Paperwork Before I Can Take Part ?
Before you attend your first class, we might need you to complete a Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PARQ) just to make sure that you don't have any health problems that might be affected by your participation.
